Sami mittens

Crocheted mittens. I am very fond of the patterns from the sami peoples.
The main colour is always white. Thereafter are red and blue used. Some say if use of green, you are married. There are a lot of variations from region to region.
And the patterns tells other which region your are from, or even whos family. They are very related to whos family you are from, and are very bonding. So the familys are big.

And you will often find a cross or a churchspire somewhere in the pattern, because the sami people are very religious. The hearts are from the newer grenerations.
But nowadays it is some mixed up, and everyone use everything.

Some of my production

Hmmm...
As you can see I am not so very busy putting out the things I make on my blog, but I am busy in producing.
But here are some of the work I have done in 2019 and also some in 2018. All have been washed and ready for sale. Some of the crocheted mittens I have shown in an earlier posts, so I must have been proud of making them :D

Still wet and waiting for to dry.
All dried up, and ready for sale
Some socks. Somehow I see I am not so fond of making socks, mittens is my kind of work.

More crocheted mittens

More crocheted mittens from me.
I have really fallen in love with this tecnique. I have now used the previoused mitten all winter. They still got the same shape, and they are thick and warm.
The best of all is that there are no threads inside which my rings or fingers get tangeled into.

Chroceted mittens again.

I have fallen in love with chrocheting.
Once again some crocheted mittens I`ve made. The pattern is from our natives, the sami/lapp people, but with wrong colours.
Theese mittens are soooo mine, warm and tight.

Chrocheted mittens.

At last... Finally I found out how to chrochet mittens like theese ones.
It has taken me some  time and a lot of patience for to figure this out..
But I think theese ones came out well. They look like they are knitted, but they are crocheted.
They became a Christmas gift for my Bonus daughter.

Latvian mittens

My mother gave me the best Christmas present ever. It was a knitting book full of patterns for Latvian mitten.
I just had to go down in my dungeon for to look after the thinnest wool yarn I knew I had. And I found some colours that would fit for my project. Thereafter I had to start looking up the thinnest knitting needles I knew I had somewhere... They are 1,5 mm thick.
Then I could start up. After a while I found out that the needles I used was not good to knit with... Thin knitting needles like theese ones in metal was bending in all directions, and it was a nightmare.
So in the middle of the night I went on the internet for to buy some new unbendable knitting needles to knit with.
They arrived very quicly, I received them just after two days. And of course I had to buy some extra needles in 1,25 mm too. Theese needles in carbon are just wonderful to knit with, I have several sizes of theese ones, and I just love them. They are expensive, but they are worth every penny.
I started on theese mittens 28. of Desember, and I was finished with the mittens today. I am a really fast knittter , but... hi-hi.. I had to go to work also. But I just love theese mittens, and they are so mine.
I thought they would be thin to wear. But they went really thick: You go on with 3 threads of yarn alle the way, they just had to be thick.
 Front
 back
The roses is even on the both sides too.
Amen.
